Vertical Marathon 2008

The Physio Solutions gang did the Vertical Marathon today! We climbed 73 storeys to be rewarded with an amazing view from the Swissotel helipad. Lay Hoon was the veteran among the girls. She'd done this last year and knew what to expect.
We spent a good 90 mins at Starbucks waiting for the Women's and Men's Open Start. So those first few photos were us hanging out, trying to wake ourselves up with coffee! Marlene's cousin, Regine and her husband, Lubi Lubi joined us in our Sunday climb. Gino was really the only serious climber among us. Hafiz had completed the race cos he raced in his age group.
To the start line we went, refusing to be split apart as they allowed groups of 6 up every minute or so. Marlene went the fastest! Followed by Lay Hoon and Willy. Last but not least..Regine and I :) It was a great experience. Never climbed 73 levels all at one go! Continually surprised at what the human body is capable of doing whatever it puts its mind to do!
Then came the wait at the top for Gino and Lubi Lubi..
We got a tan, cheered for everyone except the 2 boys we were waiting for, got thrown off the roof for spending more time than was allowed, but got great photos at the top :)
We met them at the bottom. They both did great! Gino won 3rd prize in the Men's Open. Well done Gino!
It was a great experience. In Willy's words, "Just happy to have done something crazy this year!" Thank you guys for a good Sunday!
